Upbeat Music is handing out $1500 to Celebrate Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year, aka Lunar New Year, is January 28, 2017, and to celebrate, each student at Upbeat Music will pick a red packet at the front desk when they come in for their lesson.  Everyday for a week, students can choose a red packet, each with a $5, $10, or $25 music supply voucher which can be redeemed for merchandise at our front desk.  There will also be one Upbeat Music business card and the lucky person to choose this red packet will get a $100 credit back to their account.

Now is a great time to tell your friends about signing up for music lessons at Upbeat Music because all students, regardless of how long they’ve taken lessons at our school, will get to choose a red packet.

IMA Winners – 2016

The Illinois Music Association hosts a “music olympiad” every spring and Upbeat Music prepares and sends about 35 students to participate.  Everyone is welcome to compete as there are many levels from very young beginners and adult beginners to advanced performers.  We have sent piano, violin, guitar, drum, and voice students over the past several years.

Whether or not you should compete is up to each individual.  Some people are motivated and really benefit from the practicing and preparation leading up to the competition and for them it is a great experience regardless of what place they come in.  Of course everyone wants to win and some are disappointed when they leave without a trophy but the work that goes into preparing for the competition is where is the meaninful and long lasting benefits come from and these are lessons that can be applied to other areas of life.

Below are a few pictures of trophy winners from this year’s IMA competition.

IMA Winner Wendy Wang, piano, with teacher Ms. Chin

IMA Winner Olivia Adams, piano, with teacher Christina Chow

IMA Winner Isha Batres, violin, with teacher Lipeng Chen

IMA Winner Nathan Eng, piano, with teacher Ms. Chin

IMA Winner Grace Eng, violin, with teacher Lipeng Chen
